Bama Rush Week at the University of Alabama has ended, culminating with Bid Day.
All of the preparation, outfit selections, and inner workings of sorority recruitment came down to the moment when the potential new members, PNMs, ripped open their manila envelopes at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sunday to see which sorority they would join. After what's called "running home," they were then greeted by their "big" (their assigned "big sister"/mentor) and new sorority sisters as they were showered with t-shirts, hats, and other items bearing the sorority's Greek letters.
Bid Day marks the end of Bama Rush Week, but it's only the beginning for these young women as they embark on their college experience as sorority members.
The Bama Rush obsession is real:Inside the phenomena of OOTDs, sorority recruitment
Why is #BamaRush a big deal?
Women have been rushing at the University of Alabama for years, but the process became more mainstream in 2021 because of TikTok. That's when the outfits of the days, or OOTDs, before Rush Week events started to get the attention of users obsessed with the style and fashion selection of the young women rushing. It's sort of an online phenomenon that continues to grip social media annually. It even inspired a documentary titled "Bama Rush: Acceptance Is Everything" which premiered on the Max streaming service in May 2023.
Sororities at the University of Alabama
So, what sororities were these young women vying to join? They consist of the following:

- Alpha Delta Chi.
- Alpha Delta Pi.
- Alpha Gamma Delta.

- Alpha Phi.
- Chi Omega.
- Delta Delta Delta.
- Delta Gamma.
- Delta Zeta.
- Gamma Phi Beta.
- Kappa Alpha Theta.
- Kappa Delta.
- Kappa Kappa Gamma.
- Phi Mu.
- Pi Beta Phi.
- Sigma Delta Tau.
- Sigma Kappa.
- Zeta Tau Alpha.
Sororities at the University of Alabama belong to the Alabama Panhellenic Association (APA). UA has one of the largest Greek systems in the country, with more than 12,000 members as of last spring, including 40 fraternities and 24 sororities, according to reporting by the Tuscaloosa News, a part of the USA TODAY Network.
#BamaRush Bid Day Reveals
This year's Bama Rush recruits were, dare I say, very demure. They captured the hearts of millions for what has been dubbed on TikTok as "Season 4" of Bama Rush.
